My name is Patrick McDermott, and I am running for Norfolk County Sheriff.  This position means more than just running the county jail.  I believe the Sheriff’s office must strive to be a stronger and more active community partner. Working with our elected leaders and law enforcement, I believe the sheriff’s office can play an important role by enhancing service, safety and security at the county facilities and directly in our communities. My focus is working with the communities of Norfolk county to collaborate on innovative solutions that stop crime before it happens, making sure people get the treatment and help they need, and tackling the major issues facing our cities and towns like chronic recidivism, joblessness, homelessness, and the opioid crisis.

After serving as an aide in Massachusetts Legislature, a City Councilor in Quincy, an Attorney for 19 years and now serving Norfolk County as Register of the Probate & Family Court for the past 17 years, I will bring a combination of over 25 years of civic engagement, private and public experience and leadership to the Sheriff’s office to find the solutions our county needs to increase safety and security for everyone.

I look forward to sharing my ideas with you, and continuing to serve Norfolk County as your next Sheriff.

Thank you
