Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey Endorses Patrick McDermott for Norfolk County Sheriff

Quincy – Patrick McDermott, Democratic candidate for Norfolk County Sheriff, announced today he has received the endorsement of Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey.

“Pat McDermott is a proven innovator, building partnerships with the District Attorney’s office to protect victims of domestic violence in the Probate Court,” said Morrissey. “Pat will bring that same commitment to the Sheriff’s Office working on re-entry and recidivism programs to keep our citizens safe. He is the type of leader who will be smart on crime prevention issues.”

“District Attorney Morrissey shares my commitment to justice and equity in our legal system,” said McDermott. “As Register of Probate, I have worked with him to improve access to justice, and I am committed to bringing that focus to the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office must evolve to fit the needs of our current climate, and as Sheriff, I look forward to working with District Attorney Morrissey to make that a reality.”

Patrick McDermott has served the 28 cities and towns of Norfolk County for the past 18 years as the Register of Probate, where he has worked to improve services and efficiency in the Probate and Family Court. He also served as a Quincy City Councilor and is involved in professional and community organizations such as Rotary International and the Norfolk County and Massachusetts Bar Associations.
